St. Regis Luxury Resort

When you arrive in Bora Bora a large white yacht comes to take you to the resort. Most of the accommodation is in huts over the water. Through the windows in the floor you can watch fish swim around, or better yet, dive into the water and watch the fish swim around with masks and fins they provide.

They do room service in a out-rigger canoe. You can eat dinner on a deck overlooking the interior waters of Bora Bora and watch sunset over the mountain. Once it gets dark, the staff through fish scraps into the water to attract fish and small sharks so you can watch.

This is where “Couple’s Retreat” was filmed, and is on re-run continuously on one of the cable TV channels. Most of the television channels are in French.

During the day you can take regular shuttle boat service to the main town Vaitape on Bora Bora, to see the sights or stock up on milk. In Polynesia, it seems most of the dairy products are from France, with some from New Zealand.

They have a large “lagonarium”, where you can go snorkel to see many different types of local fish. It is here I found out the ocean has a sound track. The crunching sound of fish eating coral.
